Nestled on the picturesque waterfront of Salt Spring Island, Waterfront Country Cafe is a charming coffee shop that feels like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This delightful spot, located at 149 Fulford-Ganges Rd #114 in Ganges, BC, offers a soul-enriching experience that perfectly blends the island’s bohemian spirit with cozy comfort and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by soulful, friendly staff whose passion for creating a memorable visit is unmistakable. The cafe prides itself on its extensive gluten-free offerings, a standout feature that delighted regulars and visitors alike. Whether you crave a perfectly brewed latte or crave something sweet, the gluten-free pastries and desserts here are nothing short of exceptional. Reviewers rave about the Persian Love Cake—described as heavenly and perfectly spiced—as well as the lox and bagels that cater thoughtfully to gluten-sensitive diners.
The ambiance at Waterfront Country Cafe is effortlessly charming. With its bohemian vibes, artistic cowboy-themed touches, and a dreamy glassed-in patio overlooking the water, it’s a place that invites lingering conversations and quiet moments of reflection alike. Several visitors mention the magical experience of live local music, creating a soundtrack that echoes the laid-back yet vibrant essence of the island. During cooler, rainy days, sipping a soothing Earl Grey while enjoying the cozy indoors and watching the rain fall adds a special layer of comfort and calm.
One of the cafe’s most enchanting qualities is how it brings people together, whether it’s through mini tarot card readings or the casual camaraderie fostered by the welcoming staff and regular live performances. Crystal Dolphin’s experience of meeting “wise women” and getting a mini reading captures the unique, almost mystical charm that sets this cafe apart from your average coffee spot.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Salt Spring Island, the Waterfront Country Cafe feels like a warm embrace—a place where gluten-free, vegan, and traditional favorites coexist against the backdrop of stunning waterfront views and genuine human connection. It’s not just a coffee shop; it’s a little island sanctuary for the senses and the soul.

Places like this are the reason I love visiting salt spring! May its bohemian vibe live forever!! Beautiful location and dreamy glassed-in patio. I want to return in the cold season during a rainstorm… wonderful earl grey and a welcoming friendly staff. There was a tarot card reader and it was fun people-watching, too.

Absolutely loved my visit to Country Cafe in Salt Spring! The Persian Love Cake was heavenly — perfectly spiced, moist, and gluten free! I also had the lox and bagels (also gluten free!), and they were just as amazing. It’s such a treat to find a place that offers delicious, high-quality options for those of us avoiding gluten. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and truly memorable food. Can’t wait to come back!

We had the most magical time at this little cafe, it's on the water, the coffee and treats were amazing and we met two "wise women" who gave us a mini reading. The owner is so kind and wonderful, this is a must and they have Vegan treats too and all is Gluten-free.Another Salt Spring Gem
